Penrose Volcano Cocktail
2017 has been another exceptional year for Penrose. There have been many amazing achievements for my own dogs and for the many owners of Penrose dogs at home and overseas who have enjoyed working their dogs as well as many gaining titles. 2017 finished with the good news from America that Brian Kranz and Wren - Ch Penrose Volcano Cocktail JH WD (Ch Penrose Wise Guy WD x Penrose Zebra Finch WDX) had become a Grand Champion. While 2018 has started with Bjarne Sørensen, Denmark, and Fizz - Penrose Xtra Fizz (Ch Penrose Wise Guy WD x Ch Penrose Fire Water) becoming a Swedish Champion.

It is a real achievement in the UK to gain 1 of the 5 Our Dogs National Top Awards. In the past Penrose has achieved all 5 awards in the same year. Penrose is the only kennels to win all 5 awards in the same year.

Top Dog - Ch, Swe Ch Penrose Jack Tar, UK's breed record holder. He is the sire of the 2016 Top Dog (Sh Ch Penrose Away With A Fairy). Jack is the son of Top Brood Bitch - Sh Ch Penrose Old Money, the UK's first ever Champion Bitch.
Top Stud Dog - Ch Penrose Wise Guy WD. Multiple Top Award winner, Guy is the sire, grand sire and great grand sire of multiple champions and title holders worldwide. He is also the sire at age 12 years of Top Puppy - Penrose Incredible, the youngest ever Chesapeake at 6 months 3 days to win a Challenge Certificate. He is also the sire of the 2017 Top Stud Dog
I am pleased to also gain Top Breeder.

Established in 1974 we are fortunate to live in the Usk valley area. Surrounded by the majestic Welsh mountains Skirrid, Sugar Loaf and Blorenge, all of which slope down through forestry and lush accommodation land to the River Usk. With woodland, walls, fences, ditches, streams and brooks the area is rich in wildlife from rabbits and pigeons to Canadas and Teal, all of which affords excellent training facilities. We have our own shooting ground along both banks of the River Usk just a short distance down river from the historic market town of Abergavenny, plus the ground around our home which includes a very productive flight pond. Owning around 12 Chesapeakes, all of which work, we also have a few spaniels. I like good looking working dogs - I don't show working dogs and I don't work show dogs. Every consideration is given to placing puppies in good working homes.

In the last couple of years we have been delighted to import several new dogs from America and Europe into the Penrose kennel. Introducing outcrossed bloodlines in dogs of excellent quality, always looking for good health, wonderful temperament, working ability and of correct breed type.
